Now, together with the gold award, the first place in the World Cup race brings 90 points instead of 60, and the second - 75 instead of 54. Positions from 7 to 40 will give the former number of points.

Changes in the points system at the stages of the Biathlon World Cup (before and now):.

In the new season, the biathlete who has the largest number of awards or prizes will be able to win the Big Crystal Globe.

In addition, it was decided to make the World Cup an independent tournament.. Now for him, as well as for the Olympic Games, points will not be awarded, and performances at the world championship do not affect the position in the World Cup in any way.

There will also be changes to the accrual of prize money.. By 2024, the IBU plans to increase the number of places for which athletes will receive financial rewards.

Now in individual races, money is only received for places in the top 20.

At the second stage, in the period from 2024 to 2026, the amount of prize money for the highest places will be increased. According to the current rules, the winner of the race receives 15,000 euros, of which he must pay taxes in accordance with the legislation of the countries hosting the competition.
