On Tuesday, May 24, the leadership of the English Premier League (EPL) gave permission for the sale of London Chelsea by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich. In order for the agreement to be made, the parties had to obtain the consent of the UK government..

According to UK Minister for Digitalisation, Culture, Media and Sports Nadine Dorris, the government has already issued a license to sell the football club. " We understood that the long-term future of the club could only be ensured by the arrival of a new owner,"

The government is pleased that the proceeds from the sales will not go in favor of the Russian oligarch or other persons who fell under the adopted sanctions.

“After hard work, we are satisfied that all profits from the sale of the club will not go to Roman Abramovich or another person under sanctions.. We will ensure that the funds from the sale of the club are used for humanitarian purposes in Ukraine and support for the victims of the war,"

The new owner of Chelsea will be an American consortium led by billionaire Todd Boli.

Recall that the triumphant continental chess championship Alina Kashlinskaya and her colleague Alexandra Maltsevskaya, who became the world champion among juniors, will no longer play for Russia.
