Ukrainian West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko recorded an appeal in English to the world community with a request to release Ukrainians from Azovstal.

" The factory is running out of food, no clean water and fewer bomb shelters left, civilians and soldiers are dying every day. The Ukrainian military is ready to surrender to a third party and stay in this country until the end of the war.

We ask international organizations and world politicians and diplomats to put pressure on Putin and help organize a green corridor for everyone at Azovstal: civilians, military, wounded and killed. This will stop bloodshed, genocide and death,” Yarmolenko said on his Instagram page..

Recall, on May 3, Russian invaders launched an assault on the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol. There are still civilians and Ukrainian defenders on its territory..

On May 4, the Russians broke into the territory of the plant.

Mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko said that more than 100 thousand people remain in the occupied city. According to preliminary data, there were about a thousand Mariupol civilians, including about 60 children, in the Azovstal bomb shelters.. Also there are several hundred wounded Ukrainian soldiers..
