Four-time Stanley Cup winner, Canadian hockey player with Ukrainian roots Mike Bossy died at the age of 66.

The cause of death of the legendary hockey player was a serious illness. Last October, Bossy announced that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer.. And in early April, it was reported that he was on palliative care provided to those who are in the last stage of cancer..

Bossy played for the Islanders from 1977 to 1987 and won the Stanley Cup four times in a row (1980-1983). The Canadian scored 573 goals for a total of 1126 (573 goals + 553) points in 10 seasons in the NHL.

Bossy was inducted into the Toronto Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991.. Interestingly, Bossy set an NHL record that no one has broken so far - he scored over 50 goals nine seasons in a row..

The surname of Mike's Ukrainian ancestors is Barefoot. His grandfather Vladimir Barefoot fought in the Sich Riflemen.
