Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko pulls out of fight against undisputed world lightweight champion George Kambosos.

This was announced by the promoter of the Australian Lou DiBella in a commentary to ESPN.

Lomachenko was the main contender for the fight against Kambosos, the fight was planned to be held in Australia. However, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Vasily entered the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky terrorist defense.

Promoter Bob Arum reported that the Ukrainian government would allow Lomachenko to leave the country for a championship fight with Kambosos.. However, Vasily himself decided to stay with his family in Ukraine and help defend their homeland from Russian invaders..

“I spoke to Egis Klimas and he confirmed to me that Lomachenko will not fight Kambosos next.. He thanked me and Kambosos for giving me time and opportunity to think. The very next day, when the government of Ukraine gave permission for the fight to Lomachenko, we turned to him, but did not receive consent.. We assumed that this option is likely, so we are not shocked.

Eggis confirms Lomachenko stays in Ukraine. We support him and think that the fight he is fighting is much more than boxing..

And all our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, with all Ukrainians. What they're going through is more important than any boxing match,"

Kambosos has already responded to Lomachenko's decision and supported the Ukrainian on Twitter. The Australian expressed his readiness to fight with Vasily after he defeats the American Devin Haney.

" I pray for you and your country. Please stay safe. As soon as I wipe the floor with Devin Haney, we will have this fight between two real champions,"
