Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina could not get into the 1/8 finals of the prestigious tournament in Cincinnati.

The rival of the 26-year-old native of Odessa in the second round match was the 21st number of the world ranking Angelica Kerber from Germany.

The first batch turned out to be very competitive. Angelica was able to win it, who made four breaks against Elina's three. Party score - 5: 7.

The second set was left for the Ukrainian - 6: 2. In the decisive game Elina put up fierce resistance to her opponent, but still lost - 4: 6. The match lasted 2 hours 11 minutes.

In the next round, Kerber will play with the winner in a pair of Elena Ostapenko (Latvia) - Jennifer Brady (USA).

This was the 15th match between Elina and Angelica. On account of the Ukrainian 9 wins (she won 7 previous meetings in a row), the German won 6 matches.

For Svitolina, it was the second fight after the bronze won at the Tokyo Olympics and the second defeat.
