Triumphant start at Roland Garros: Ukrainian Kostyuk in two sets dealt with ex-first racket of the world

Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk won an unexpected victory over former world number one Garbinier Mugurusa of Spain in the first round match Roland Garros.

The fight lasted 1 hour 23 minutes and ended in two sets. In the first game, the Ukrainian gave only one game to the titled opponent - 6: 1. In the second set, Marta gave up her serve in the fourth game, but immediately made two breaks and brought the matter to victory in the game (6: 4) and the match (2: 0).



In the 1/32 finals, the Ukrainian will face the winner in the pair Sara Sorribes-Tormo (Spain, 49th in the world ranking) - Zheng Saisai (China, 57).

Kostyuk takes 81st place in the WTA rankings.

Mugurusa is in 13th position. On account of Garbinier - two wins at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. The Spanish woman is the ex-first racket of the world.

As reported on the eve of TSN Prosport, Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina defeated another former first racket of the world Angelica Kerber from Germany.
