The head coach of Dynamo Kiev, Mircea Lucescu, told how he wanted to head Shakhtar Donetsk for the second time two years ago.
According to the 75-year-old Romanian specialist, he offered to work with the Pitmen for free, but they refused his services..
" Then I called Shakhtar and offered my services for free.
Said I could come back and help the youth. After all, the formation of young players is a difficult process. I felt that I can and want to work. I repeat - free.
But Shakhtar chose a different path and did the right thing, "
Lucescu took over Dynamo last summer, signing a 2 + 1 contract.
In their debut season, under the guidance of a Romanian specialist, the White-Blues won all domestic trophies (Super Cup, Ukrainian Championship and Cup), and also reached the 1/8 finals of the Europa League.
As TSN Prosport previously reported, after winning the Ukrainian Cup, Lucescu had to postpone his vacation and stay in Kiev.
