Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (No. 6 WTA) beat Russian-American Amanda Anisimova (No. 39 WTA) in her opening match at the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome.

The first racket of Ukraine, who started her performances from the second round, did not cope with her rival in the first set, but confidently won the next two. As a result, the meeting, which lasted 1 hour 40 minutes, ended in favor of our athlete - 2: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4. Note that this was the third meeting of tennis players, the Ukrainian won two of them.



In the next round, Elina's opponent will be the winner of the confrontation between the Spaniard Garbinier Mugurusa (No. 12 WTA) and the American Bernarda Pera (No. 69 WTA).

Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk also competed at the tournament in Rome, but the 18-year-old hope of Ukrainian tennis lost to the Russian Yekaterina Alexandrova in the first round - 3: 6, 1: 6.
