Former Senegal midfielder Papa Bouba Diop dies at 42.

According to The Mirror, the death of the Senegalese occurred on November 28 as a result of a long illness.

Diop fought against Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), also called hereditary motor-sensory neuropathy. It causes muscle atrophy, deformity of the feet and hands, a change in gait and loss of sensitivity in the limbs.. Diop rose to fame when he scored his first goal at the 2002 World Cup.

His ball brought the Senegalese a sensational victory over France - 1: 0. As part of the Senegal national team, he reached the quarterfinals of the tournament, losing to Turkey (0: 1) in extra time.

In total in the national team of Senegal, he played 63 matches and scored 11 goals. At club level, Diop has played with Fulham, Portsmouth, Lance, AEK, West Ham and Birmingham.
