The 2019/20 Europa League Final Eight kicked off on August 10. The mini-tournament takes place in Germany and consists of a quarter-final, a semi-final and a final.
In the quarter-finals, Inter Milan beat Bayer Leverkusen 2: 1. Romelu Lukaku took the Italian club ahead in the 15th minute. Nicolo Barella increased lead by 21st. Pharmacists were able to quickly close the gap thanks to a goal from Kaia Havertz in the 24th minute.
Minutes later, the referee awarded a penalty to Bayer for allegedly handballing Daley Sinkgraven. But after watching VAR the 11-meter was canceled - the ball hit the defender's shoulder.
In the 90th minute, Karim Bellarabi knocked down Christian Eriksen, the referee set a penalty again, but also canceled thanks to the VAR view: a moment before the foul, the ball hit Barella's hand.
So, Inter became the first semi-finalist of the Europa League, where they will face the winner of the Shakhtar - Basel pair.. This match will be played on August 11.
