The experiment on volunteers showed that it is not enough to have the usual desire to lose weight, the best way is to back it up by visualizing the end result.

The International Journal of Obesity published the results of a study of scientists from the University of Queensland (Australia) and the University of Plymouth (United Kingdom), who made it clear that the imagination plays a significant role in losing weight,.

140 volunteers participated in the experiment. They were divided into two groups. The first group lost weight by the method of Functional Imagery Training, implying the representation by volunteers of how their lives will change if they can lose excess weight. The second group of volunteers passed through the method of Motivational Interviewing: the scientists communicated with the participants of the experiment and motivated them to start losing weight.

The result of the experiment showed that the participants of the first method after 6 months could lose an average of 4.11 kg, while the participants in the second method lost 0.74 kg. After the end of the experiment, the first method continued to help volunteers get rid of excess weight.

In fact, if a person wants to lose weight, then he should not only represent what he would like to see himself ultimately. It is also important to understand that losing weight is a stress for the body, so it should be slow and "without sacrifice". You can lose weight due to, what is important, the stimulus, but even more work: physical training, a new diet, the rejection of harmful food. In a complex, all this allows you to switch to a healthier lifestyle and get rid of weight.
