Today in Kharkov, a chess tournament for the cup of the chairman of HOGA. About 120 professional chess players take part in the competitions, including grandmasters, winners of chess Olympiads, champions of Europe and the world.

Participants of the tournament dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of the Kharkiv region during the Second World War were congratulated by the head of HOGA Yuliya Svetlichnaya, the press service of the administration.

"It's very pleasant when the sport develops on the territory of our region. But chess in the region is on a separate account. After all, the chess history of the Kharkov region was written by many generations of athletes. We are proud of our chess players and coaches, who bring up not only Ukrainian, but also international sports, "- said the head of the region.

She wished the participants of the competitions to reach high peaks, to have strong support of the team and to contribute to the development of chess not only in the Kharkov region, but throughout Ukraine.

President of the Kharkiv Regional Chess Federation Sergei Gusarov thanked the head of HOGA for the support provided in organizing the tournament.

"The history of today's tournament is as follows. At one time well-known chess players of our region appealed to Yulia Alexandrovna with a big request: to support the development of chess in the region, to hold competitions, to make the Cup of the Chairman of the HOGA. And we are very grateful to her for her support and for personally visiting the opening of the tournament, "said Sergei Gusarov.
