Running promotes the formation of new cells in the brain

Researchers based on the results of a large-scale experiment have revealed how running influences the formation of new brain cell connections.

The work on the planned experiments was carried out on laboratory rodents. Subjects were divided into three subgroups according to the level of loading: medium, intensive and heavy. Based on the results of the experiment, it was found that in rodents who were exposed to medium load (running for six weeks), new cell connections in the hippocampus. If we compare them with the control subgroup, we can note an increase in neural connections in the hippocampus of 2 or even three times, which can not be said about groups of subjects with intensive and heavy load.

In particular, in laboratory subjects subjected to intensive workload, scientists recorded a slight effect. The most inconclusive was the third group, a heavy load level did not contribute to the formation of new cellular connections in the brain.

As the author of the scientific work has stated, the average intensity of the load affects the formation of new cell colonies in the brain, it is noteworthy that the predisposition at the genetic level for the reaction with physical exertion improves the effect.

This study, on the definition of an effective type of exercise, was conducted for the first time. But it is worth noting that in our time there is a large amount of evidence of a positive result from physical exercises that help the formation of new brain cells.
