On the night of July 22, Moscow hosted the finals of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) between Ukrainian Alexander Usik and Russian Murat Gassiev.
Usik won in the 12-round fight on points and became the absolute world champion in the first lightweight.
Ukrainian became the fourth boxer in world history, who managed to do it. Before him it was done by Bernard Hopkins, Terence Crawford and Jermain Taylor.
In addition, Usik is the first boxer who won the Mohammed Ali Cup (the main trophy of WBSS).
The Ukrainian remains unbeaten, he has not suffered a single defeat in professional boxing, whereas for Murat this is the first losing fight in his career.
