British cyclist Chris Frum was found not guilty of violating the anti-doping rules.

The International Union of Cyclists (UCI) refused to claim a four-time winner of the Tour de France.

Previously, the rider was suspected of illegal use of banned substances. In the urinalysis of a 33-year-old athlete, salbutamol was detected, whose level was twice the norm.

Positive result was given by the doping test of Frum with "Vuelta-2017". While Frum denied his guilt and argued that he suffers from asthma and uses an inhaler containing salbutamol.

"We understand that this decision will cause a heated discussion, but we want to reassure everyone involved in cycling: the decision is based on expert opinions, WADA recommendations and full assessment of all the details of this case.

UCI hopes that now the world of cycling can concentrate on the upcoming races and get pleasure from them, "- said in a press release of UCI.

Earlier because of the doping scandal, the British did not want to admit to the current "Tour de France". At the same time, some bicycle riders promised to boycott if Frum were allowed to compete.

Recall that in 2017, Frum won the Tour de France and Vuelta, and is also the winner of four of the last five bagatenos Tour de France (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017). This year he already managed to win the "Giro d'Italia".
