The International Olympic Committee held talks with the Government of Ukraine regarding the boycott of sports competitions on the territory of the Russian Federation. This is stated in a message on the official website of the IOC, transmits UNN.

"We had to consider increasing the number of countries that require a boycott of sports events for political reasons. Some governments abuse sports for their own purposes. This contradicts the values ??of sports and the Olympic Games, which establish contact between people and unite them, regardless of political beliefs. These boycotts are contrary to our core values. We are here to closely monitor this and act, "said the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach.

So, after negotiations with the Ukrainian government at all levels, the boycott is no longer valid, according to the website.

Recall, March 14, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine issued an order banning the participation of national teams of Ukraine in sporting events on the territory of Russia, arguing for such a step ephemeral "moral responsibility" for performances in Russia. In addition, the head of the department Igor Zhdanov said that Ukrainian athletes will not take part in the Universiade, which will be held in Russia in 2019.
