Ukrainka Irina Galay, who conquered the highest mountain Everest in the world, within the expedition without oxygen to Mount Lhodz (8516 meters high - the fourth in this indicator in the world) was the legendary Khumbu icefall.

"As soon as we entered this labyrinth of three-meter ice blocks, I simply could not get enough of what was happening. How little need a climber for happiness! I have long wanted to go Khumbu! It was not very difficult to climb. But dangerous moments arose, skills of climbing with ice walls were needed. We with my Sherpas Pasang quickly coped with this and went to Camp 1 one of the first in this season.

Then the weather changed, the hurricane began. The wind tried to break the tent to ashes. I saw how the icefall broke down.

Huge blocks of ice were crumbling to pieces, people who seemed to be ants from the camp, scattered in different directions, hiding behind large ice peaks, "- said Galai.

Note that Khumbu is one of the most dangerous and difficult to navigate places of the classic Everest route from the south.

Recall that in 2016 Irina was the first Ukrainian in history to conquer the highest peak in the world at eight thousand eight hundred and forty-eight meters - Mount Everest.
