60 deputies of the European Parliament called for a diplomatic boycott of the World Cup, which in the summer of 2018 will be hosted by Russia.
They urged the EU countries to ignore the future of the continental championship, because, in their opinion, Russian President Vladimir Putin ridicules European values.
"These days the whole world looks at Europe. Our governments should not follow the authoritarian path of President Putin, so we call for a boycott of the championship in the name of human rights, democracy and peace, "reads the official statement.
Earlier it was noted that the boycott of the 2018 World Cup will be Denmark, Iceland and the United Kingdom.
Recall that the Mundial will be held from June 14 to July 15 in 11 cities.
