To set a world record, the record holder broke her principles.

The US state of Maryland (USA) hosted the annual track and field event "USA Track and Field Masters Indoor Championships". Non-professional athletes take part in the competition, for which sport is the meaning of an active way of life. Anyone can take part in the competition, regardless of age.

During the last tournament, several world records were recorded at once. So, the world record holder in the race for 60 meters was 102-year-old Julia Hawkins, nicknamed Hurricane.

The athlete has overcome the distance in 24.79 seconds.

On the video, she finished last, but all her rivals are younger than Julia, which means the record is hers by right.

The record holder said that to establish a world record she had to violate her principles.

"I usually sleep at this time, but for the sake of the world record, I had to break the usual daily routine," commented Julia, who had updated the world record for her age in the long jump a few days ago: now he is 2. 77 m.
