The Ukrainian authorities have banned their athletes from performing at any competitions taking place in Russia, but this decision ricocheted in them. In Tyumen is the final stage of the World Cup in biathlon. The teams are fighting not only for medals, but for the quota of athletes, which can be put on the start of the race, for the next year. The men's team took the eighth place in the overall standings before the Russian competitions. After the first races in Tyumen, Ukraine and the Czech Republic, boycotting these launches, dropped to 10 and 11 respectively, leaving Slovenia and Switzerland ahead.
In the next season, only 4 Ukrainians will be able to participate in the race, and the maximum possible quota is 8 people, which the Russians could get, having finished 4th in the standings. The former itself deprives itself of possible rewards and simplifies the struggle, so it is not surprising that many athletes leave the country. At the same time last year, athletes took 6th place and received a quota of 5 people. Ukraine March 13 temporarily refused to participate in any sporting events in Russia.
