British Prime Minister Teresa May clarified that the boycott of the World Cup, which is to be finalized this year in Russia, may concern members of the British government, but not the football team itself. This is reported by Mirror.

"Depending on what happens in the investigation of the two-person attack that took place in Salisbury, the government may want to consider whether ministers and other dignitaries should attend the World Cup in Russia," Iay said today, speaking in the House of Commons.

Earlier, British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson in connection with the possible poisoning of a former employee of the GRU Sergey Skripal and his daughter said that Britain can refuse to participate in the 21st FIFA World Cup, the final part of which will be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15 2018.

According to Mirror, later Johnson's aides clarified that he meant "officials and dignitaries," and not the English team.
