Tennis players Roger Federer and Serena Williams are recognized as the best athletes of the year at the traditional Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony held in Monaco.
For Federer, this award was already the fifth in his career and the first since 2008. He also took the statuette in the nomination "Camback of the Year".
Williams senior became a four-time winner of the "sports Oscar", which is a record in the women's nomination.
Note that Federer returned to the ATP tour in 2017 after a break due to a knee injury, won the Australian Open and Wimbledon and finished the season in the second position of the world ranking. In January this year, the Swiss defender won in Melbourne, and recently won the tournament in Rotterdam and became the oldest first racket in the history of men's tennis.
Serena Williams last season held only two tournaments - the American in January for the seventh time won the Australian Open, and then went into the decree.
