The Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) refused to admit to the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang Russian athletes who were acquitted by the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS).

13 Russian athletes and 2 coaches were previously suspended for life for participating in the Games for anti-doping rule violation, but CAS found them not guilty.

CAS decided to lift the ban on participation in the Olympics in general. But this does not mean that these athletes should take part in the Games-2018, says the decision of the IOC. Therefore, the Commission unanimously decided not to admit Russians to the Olympics in Pyeongchang.

____________________ Recall, December 5, 2017 IOC disqualified the Russian national team from the 2018 Olympics because of the doping scandal with Sochi-2014.

In 2016, a doping scandal broke out after the reports of Richard McLaren, who led the WADA investigation.

They said that Russian athletes were involved in manipulating doping tests at the Sochi Olympics. To replacing the doping tests with "clean" were involved senior officials of Russia.

To participate in the Games of Pyeongchang can "clean" Russian athletes under the neutral Olympic flag.

On 1 February 2018, the Lausanne court granted the appeal of 28 Russian athletes to the decision of the IOC regarding a life suspension from participation in the Olympic Games.
