The International Olympic Committee (IOC) in an official statement denied the ban on the use of Russian flag fans in the stands during the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Earlier information appeared that the IOC banned Russian flags in the stands. Because the new regulations of the organization prohibits the appearance on the Games of fans "with the flags of countries that do not participate in the Olympics".

It turns out that it was about those countries or entities that are not recognized by the world community and are not members of the international Olympic movement.

"The demonstration of the flag of the country in which there is a recognized national Olympic committee, on the part of individual fans and sports fans, can not be banned, even if this national Olympic Committee is suspended," the statement said by Sport Express,.

It has the remark that if this happens in the format of an organized political demonstration, the IOC will note this in the framework of the monitoring system.

Meanwhile, the 2018 Olympics may not allow all Russian participants in the scandalous Sochi Games.

____________________ Recall, December 5, 2017 IOC disqualified the Russian national team from the 2018 Olympics because of the doping scandal with Sochi-2014. To take part in the Games of Pyeongchang will be able to "clean" athletes under the neutral Olympic flag.

In 2016, a doping scandal broke out after the reports of Richard McLaren, who led the WADA investigation.

They said that Russian athletes were involved in manipulating doping tests at the Sochi Olympics. To replacing the doping tests with "clean" were involved senior officials of Russia.
