They said that there was no official ban on the use of Russian flag by fans at the Olympics in Korea. "The paragraph on prohibiting viewers from using the flags of states not participating in the Games at Olympic venues was included in the rules for fans by the organizing committee of the Games in Pyeongchang at the stage of preparation of regulations for the organization and conduct of the Games. This paragraph provides potentially possible restrictions for representatives of countries or entities that are not recognized by the world community and are not members of the international Olympic movement.

The ban is not relevant to the decisions taken last December by the IOC Executive Committee on the participation of Russian athletes and the Russian delegation in the 2018 Olympic Games, "reads the statement posted on the organization's website. Nevertheless, the working group of the ROC appealed to the IOC for official confirmation on this issue, taking into account the fact that the Russian team will act as an "Olympic athlete from Russia" under the Olympic flag. IOC response is expected before the end of this week. In any case, with an unfavorable outcome, the flag of Serbia is kept in mind. Serbs will not be offended.
