Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko overcame the first round of the Australian Open.

In this fight our athlete was confronted by Natalia Vikhlyantseva from Russia.

The first set was not the best for the Ukrainian, but she managed to seize the initiative, pick up the next two games and win the match - 6: 3, 3: 6, 4: 6.

In the next round, Lesya will meet with the winner of the pair Christina Plishkova - Agnieszka Radwanska.

Let's note, for Tsurenko this is the first exit to the second round of the tournament from 2013.

Thus, for the first time four representatives of Ukraine reached the second round of the tournament.

So, in the next round, five out of six Ukrainians made their way: Ekaterina Bondarenko, Marta Kostiuk, Elina Svitolina, Lesya Tsurenko, and also the only participant in the men's grid of the tournament - Alexander Dolgopolov. Ekaterina Kozlova left the competition.
