North and South Korea combined their women's hockey teams in one team. The representative of the South Korean Ministry of Sports, Hwang Son Eun, asserts that both countries discussed this possibility since last year, but it was possible to achieve the goal only now, ABC News reports.. He stressed that permission to speak of such a team at the Games has already been submitted to the IOC. This proposal will be considered by the organization on January 20 in Lausanne with the participation of representatives of the DPRK and South Korea. Only after the official permission, the united women's hockey team will be able to perform at the Olympics. Such a step shows halfway the determination of both states to establish a dialogue with each other.
Last week, for the first time in two years, there was a meeting of representatives of Seoul and Pyongyang, where they agreed on the restoration of emergency communications lines, as well as the participation of athletes from the DPRK at the 2018 Olympics. Meanwhile, a new meeting of representatives of the two countries will take place on January 17. It will discuss the question of the route of the trip of North Korean athletes and their placement during the competition.
Olympic Games in Pyeongchang will be held from 9 to 25 February.
