The President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vitaly Mutko at a meeting of the executive committee announced that he suspended his duties.

The acting head of the organization was Alexander Alayev, who held the post of general director of the RFU.

"This option is stipulated in the charter of the RFU. He now has a lot of things to protect Russian athletes and himself. He does not go anywhere. Just temporarily suspends his powers as president of the RFU.

It can be a month or two ... I think before the end of the Olympics in Korea, all these issues will be resolved. ", - commented the Honorary President of the RFU Vyacheslav Koloskov.

Mutko was suspended for life for participation in the Olympic Games in any status for the doping scandal of Sochi-2014. The corresponding decision was taken by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on December 5.

During the Winter Olympics in 2014, Mutko was the Russian Minister of Sport and he is suspected of participating in the doping scheme - replacing the samples of Russian athletes with "clean".

Earlier information appeared that FIFA refused to work with Mutko.
