Coach of the men's team of Canada, Matthias Ahrens, said that the Canadian team is not going to boycott the Biathlon World Cup in Tyumen, which is the final.

Whereas, just recently, the media reported on the decision of the Canadian Biathlon Federation regarding the refusal to send its athletes and personnel to Russia.

"It is not true. Canada did not formally announce a boycott of the World Cup in Tyumen. You could read it in the press, but not with us. We never used the word boycott and did not talk about refusing to speak in Tyumen. This applies to me, and the president of our federation.

We stated our position before the decision of the IBU and were against holding competitions in Russia, but did not make any statements about the boycott, "Ahrens said..

We will add that earlier this stage was transferred to Oslo, however, the president of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Anders Besseberg said recently that there are no changes.

The World Cup in Tyumen is scheduled from 22 to 25 March 2018.

Recall, on December 5, the IOC disqualified the Russian national team from the Olympics due to the doping scandal. Take part in it will be able to only "clean" athletes under the Olympic flag.
