The corresponding decision was made against the backdrop of the investigation of doping. As stated in the press release published on the IBU website, the status of the Russian organization is downgraded to temporary membership.

This means that the RRF does not have the right to participate in congresses, and also to vote and nominate its members for positions.

Thus, the IBU responded to the decision of the International Olympic Committee on December 5 to suspend the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee.

The Executive Committee also intends to create a working group that will deal with external expertise of doping tests of Russian athletes.

The issue of the restoration of the full membership of the RRF will not be considered until the end of the 2017/18 season and subject to a number of conditions, the IBU explained, adding that the temporary membership of Russia can be extended if the executive board considers that the above conditions have not been met.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, Russia was not allowed to participate in the Olympic Games in 2018 in South Korean Phenchhane. However, an exception will only be made for athletes who are clean in terms of doping. They can compete under the neutral (Olympic) flag.
