The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) intends to investigate doping tests of Russian football players from the middle of January and thus check the statements of the informant Grigory Rodchenkov. He claimed that the state doping system in Russia involved football players. This became known from the report submitted on Friday, December 8, the International Football Federation (FIFA), reports the Main with reference to DW.

In late November, Rodchenkov through a lawyer said that he was ready to provide new evidence of doping by Russian players in the state program. We are talking about dozens of Russian players, including members of the Russian national team.

"According to FIFA, previous tests could not prove the involvement of Russian players in the doping system. However, the results of the tests, which will be held from the middle of January, are "open", and "FIFA continues to work closely with WADA," the organization said..

In addition, previously FIFA was criticized for the fact that the organization has not yet come into contact with Rodchenkov and did not verify his charges. FIFA states that this WADA has denied them this contact, assuring that Rodchenkov is "unavailable". Meanwhile, the report of the independent WADA commission led by Richard McClaren contained information on 34 Russian football players who are suspected of using doping.

If FIFA receives new evidence of doping by Russian players, this may adversely affect the process of preparation for the upcoming World Cup.
