However, an exception will only be made for athletes who are clean in terms of doping. They can compete under the neutral (Olympic) flag.

As stated on the website of the International Olympic Committee, the corresponding decision was made on Tuesday, December 5, at the meeting of the IOC Executive Committee. It comes into force immediately.

The decision also says that net athletes will compete under the name OAR (Olympic Athlete from Russia). At the awards ceremonies, an Olympic hymn will be performed, not Russia, but on their form there will be no symbols or a flag of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, according to the decision of the IOC, none of the officials of the Ministry of Russia will receive accreditation for the Games in Korea.

Let's remind that the IOC commission under the leadership of Denis Oswald, who is testing samples of Russian athletes from the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, increased the number of cases under consideration to 36.

As reported URA-Inform, in Greek Olympia on Tuesday, October 24, the ceremony of lighting the fire of the winter XXIII Olympiad took place. They will open in the South Korean city of Pyeongchang on February 9, 2018.
