The International Olympic Committee is preparing a decision to admit members of the Russian team as neutral participants in the competition. Sports officials have already begun negotiations with Nike company to develop an appropriate design of the form for the performance in Pyeongchang, reported the publication Inside the Games. The competition will be allowed only to those athletes who previously did not come across the use of banned drugs. In addition, the database of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory will not include the names of those athletes who were on the list as previously taking doping, but later justified by sports functionaries. Officially, the decision of the IOC will be announced on Tuesday, December 5, at 21:30 Moscow time. The verdict will be passed after IOC examines the results of the two commissions - led by Denis Oswald and Samuel Schmid. Oswald's team must prove that with the doping tests of Russians manipulations were made during the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014. Schmid Commission is engaged in a more global issue - collecting evidence of the existence of a doping system in Russia at the state level. Inside the Games notes that it is the Schmid Commission's findings that will form the basis of the IOC decision.
Russia should prepare for the development of several scenarios, says "R-Sport".
In addition to the admission of athletes under a neutral flag, the option of a complete refusal to allow Russians to speak in Pyeongchang. It is also possible that the IOC will allow the national team, but in its entirety - all participants of the Sochi Olympics will be left behind. More gentle option - the IOC will give the Russian sports federations the right to decide who will go to South Korea, and who does not. Finally, the last scenario assumes that Russian athletes will be obliged individually to apply for participation.
