This yoga of Tibetan lamas originates in the 8th century, from the great Tibetan practice named Vairochana, who in turn was a disciple of Guru Padmasambhava, revered in Tibet for the second Buddha. In Tibet, the tradition of yantra yoga was secretly transmitted. However, when in 1959 the Chinese army captured Tibet, many Tibetan teachers were in exile, moving to other countries. So the secret teachings of Tibet were accessible to all, according to the Internet edition for girls and women from 14 to 35 years old Pannochka. net The word "yantra" came from Sanskrit and has several meanings. First of all, "yantra" is a mandala, t. a geometric figure that serves as a support in meditation. "Yantra" also means liberation from the cycle of rebirths. However, in the Tibetan language, "yantra" is a "movement". In this form of yoga, the movements are more important than the poses. It is movements that contribute to the coordination of our life energy - prana.

Yantra Yoga includes both movement and contemplation. These two parts are inseparable from each other. There are 108 movements of yantra yoga. This number corresponds to the number of sacred Buddhist texts. To complete all 108 movements, you will need 10 hours. Of course, practitioners can perform only a certain number of exercises that fit them according to their physical abilities. The usual yantra yoga class lasts 1.5-2 hours, with about half of the entire session being given to warm-up, since before performing any asanas, you need to prepare muscles to avoid possible injuries.

Yantra yoga refers to the Tibetan tradition and is very reminiscent of hatha yoga and qigong, however the way of entering into yantra yoga poses and the very meaning of this practice are very different from other types of yoga. Yantra energizes and soothes thoughts, and also directs our life to a more perfect channel. Closely related to Tibetan medicine, yantra yoga is able to heal not only physical, but also mental ailments. Yantra Yoga heals by cleansing and opening energy channels, balancing the five elements of the human body: space, air, fire, earth and water. In this sense yantra yoga is very similar to ayurveda.

However, cure is not at all the primary goal of yoga. This is not therapeutic gymnastics.

Knowing yourself, your true nature - this is what inspired the Tibetan lamas of antiquity to engage in yantra. Yantra Yoga works on three levels of a person: body (postures and movement), speech (pranayama - breathing practices) and mind (contemplation and meditation). Our condition depends not so much on the health of our physical body as on the functioning of invisible energy in it - prana. It is the coordination of this energy that is engaged in yantra yoga.
