Numerous studies confirm that physical activity has a beneficial effect on thinking, especially in the middle and old age, according to the Internet edition for girls and women aged 14 to 35. Pannochka. net Now scientists have found out that a glass of beet juice is especially useful for the brain, if you take it every time before going to the gym.

American neurologists conducted a trial involving elderly volunteers who drank beet juice before exercise. A useful habit greatly strengthened the connection between nerve cells and different parts of the brain. Thanks to this, beet lovers defeated peers according to the test results.

Details of the study are reported in the Journals of Gerontology: Series A. The project was led by Dr. Jack Rejeski from the Department of Health and Physical Education at Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

According to the authors, the connectivity of the brain in elderly people after exercise and beet juice is comparable to that of young people. Although physical education has a positive effect on the brain in any case, beets multiply this effect.

Beetroot juice - a drink for athletes.

We have a beetroot more known as an ingredient in borscht than a vitamin cocktail for sports and active. But in recent years, Western scientists are increasingly talking about the extraordinary benefits of fresh beet juice.

In particular, beet juice contributes to the normalization of blood pressure and increased tolerance of exercise. Beets have a high content of natural nitrates, which are transformed into nitric oxide - a powerful vasodilator, including the brain.

As you know, physical exercises improve the blood supply to the brain, thereby activating memory and thinking, nerve cells recover faster, reducing the risk of dementia.

Knowing the remarkable properties of beet juice, Dr. Regeski decided to enhance the effects of physical education by this simple and useful drink.

Having recruited 26 volunteers (age 55+ participants) with hypertensive disease, the scientists divided them into two groups. Both three times a week performed moderate intensity endurance exercises, 50 minutes per session.

The first group drank water one hour before classes, and the second group - beet-based dietary supplements. The food additive with beets contained 560 milligrams of nitrate, and was made from natural components of beet juice.

All participants before the project did not engage in physical education, were in poor physical condition and took at least one antihypertensive drug.

The study lasted for six weeks.

At the end of the project, participants underwent a functional magnetic resonance imaging of the brain (fMRI) to determine the intensity of the nervous processes and connectivity.

The results showed that BAA based on beet really enhances the effects of exercise. Tomography revealed a significant structural increase in the somatomotor cortex - an area that helps control the body.

Moreover, beet juice strengthens the connections between the somatomotor cortex and neighboring brain areas, and also improves the functioning of the insular cortex - another important area involved in thinking, emotion and motor control.

The authors noted that such connectivity of the brain is characteristic of young people!.

Why did the beet juice act on the somatomotor bark?.

The fact is that this area of ??the brain is closely related to the work of muscles. Participants took a nutritional supplement before exercise, and this section of the cortex received the maximum benefit.

"Nitrogen oxide is a really powerful biological molecule. It enters the ischemic parts of the body that need oxygen, dilates the blood vessels and provides additional blood flow, "says Reggeski.

Although for the practical application of the results you need to conduct additional research, today we should pay attention to a healthy drink rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Drink beet juice for the brain, and be healthy!.
