The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) suspended nine national federations, including the Ukrainian one, for the year. As reported on the website of the IWF, the decision was made due to the fact that representatives of these federations were allowed three or more violations of the anti-doping rules, which showed a re-examination of the doping samples of the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

In addition to Ukraine, membership in the IWF has also been suspended for the federations of Kazakhstan, China, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Russia and Moldova.

National teams of these countries will not be able to participate in the World Cup.
