French Sports Minister Laura Flessel said that the national team will not participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korean Phenchkhan, unless the organizers guarantee the safety of the delegation.

"If the situation worsens and we do not get a security guarantee, the French team will remain at home. We will not expose the athletes to danger, "- said Flessel on the air radio RTL.

The fears of the French are due to the tension between South Korea and the DPRK, which arose from the North Korean test of nuclear weapons.

Earlier, the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, said that there is no security threat at the Games-2018 because of tensions between the DPRK and some other countries.

Recall that OI-2018 will be held from 9 to 25 February 2018 in Pyeongchang. Organizers have already presented the program of competitions and showed how the medals will look.
