Studies conducted earlier showed that the result of training, for example, one half of the body, necessarily affects the condition of the other half. Thus, the signal from the brain to the untrained part of the body is strengthened, even if training does not occur.
During the experiment 30 young and healthy adults were divided into three groups. One of the groups was engaged in the "imaginary" muscle training of the little finger, the other - the elbow muscle. Participants in the third group did not do exercises in the imagination. Classes were held for 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 12 weeks.
Participants in the experiment had to think about training as clearly as possible, presenting in detail the process of "inflating" the muscles.
The training areas were specially fixed so that the "imaginary" action did not turn into a real one.
The strength of the little finger of the participants in the first group increased by 35% during the experiment, the elbow became stronger by 13. 4% of members of the second group. The strength of the participants of the third group remained unchanged.
Physicians believe that the strength increases due to the improving ability of the brain to transmit signals to the muscles.
