Deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremities, fortunately, is an infrequent companion of the postpartum period.

However, even some cases of this disease require increased attention from specialists, because it has catastrophic consequences for the organism, up to a lethal outcome.

Experts at the Mayo Clinic recommend that all women as soon as possible after the birth of the baby get up and do a small walking tour of the clinic. The use of drugs that promote blood thinning in the postpartum period is undesirable due to the high risk of complications, and they are not very effective for the prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis of the extremities.

Moderate motor activity will ensure a normal circulation of blood through the blood vessels, prevent the development of stagnant phenomena and thrombus formation.
