Scandal broke out in the Ukrainian hockey team. Two players of the team Eduard Zakharchenko and Vladimir Varivoda confessed to surrendering the game against South Korea at the 2017 World Cup in Division I-A, which took place in the spring in Kiev.

The game then ended with a victory for the Koreans in a shootout with a score of 2: 1.

In the press there were receipts of players in which they promised that they would return $ 30,000 if they did not fulfill the conditions for a fixed result.

According to the "Observer", one of the organizers of the scheme is the former head coach of the Kharkov "Vityaz" Alexei Lazarenko.

He himself wrote in Facebook that before the end of the investigation by the Federation of Hockey of Ukraine (FHU), the comments will not be given. The decision of the FHU should be made at a meeting on August 21.

Meanwhile, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) will investigate.

According to IIHF President Rene Fasel, a commission will be set up on August 21 to investigate the scandal.

"We will certainly conduct an investigation, we will open the case, although the result of the match tells us about the opposite. Of course, these are very serious allegations, if what was described there really was, we will face a big problem, we must treat this situation with all attention and seriousness, "said Fasel.

Recall, the match with the South Korean team was the last for Ukraine in the tournament. Our team flew to the lower Division.
