Fitness and sports in the daytime reduce the duration of sleep, say US specialists.
Scientists conducted a study to determine how the duration of sleep affects sports. In the experiment, 14 athletes participated in the experiment with special sensors that monitored the degree of activity of the subjects for 23 days. The test results showed that the more active a person is during a day, the shorter his sleep.
In the course of the study, the following indicators were taken into account:
total sleep duration, energy expenditure during sports, height and weight of participants in the experiment. Paradoxically, women with excess weight were more active, and consequently, slept worse.
Specialists found that on days when physical activity decreased, sleep duration increased by 42 minutes. Scientists in the field of treatment of cardiovascular diseases came to the conclusion that physical activity does not improve the quality and duration of sleep.
