The prize-winners of the Olympic Games-2016 returned more than 130 medals to the organizers due to the fact that black spots and rust began to appear on them.
"The most common problem was that they were thrown or medals were handled incorrectly and the lacquer was wiped out," explained the director of communications of the organizing committee of the competition Mario Andrada.
He also added that on some medals such damage appeared because of the extreme cold.
The representative of the organizing committee promised that the Brazilian mint will fix all the damages and return the rewards to their owners.
It should be noted that only 2488 medals were created for the Olympic Games in Rio.
