It became known the allocation of quotas for the World Cup-2026, which for the first time in history will play 48 teams.

Europe will be represented by 16 teams (now 14), Africa - at least 9 (now 5), Asia - at least 8 (now 4.5), North and South America - at least 6 (now 3.5 and 4.5 ), And Oceania - at least one (now 0.5).

Two more vouchers will be played between five teams from CAF, AFC, CONCACAF, CONEMBOL and OFC, as well as the national team of the confederation in which the final part of the World Cup will be held.

It is already known that neither Europe nor Asia will be able to accept the Mundial.

Mini-tournament will be held in the play-off format and will be played in two stages. Presumably, these tours will be played in November 2025.

The decision to expand the world championship to 48 teams was made on January 10 at a meeting of FIFA in Zurich.

The owner of the World Cup in 2026 has not yet been determined and should be named in May 2020. Recall that the US, Canada and Mexico filed a joint application for the World Cup-2026.

Earlier, the French prosecutors began investigating corruption in FIFA.
