Biologists Dennis Grahn and Craig Heller of the Stanford University have developed a device that doubles the physical endurance of soldiers or athletes. The device is designed for intensive cooling of body heat.

It is put on the wrist, and around the wrist is sealed cuff. When the muscles work, they produce heat, and if the heat sink is not enough (high air temperature, humidity) - the muscles lose their efficiency much faster than their actual fatigue limit. A new machine cools the body from the inside, using blood, as a coolant. For this, a small discharge is created inside the device chamber, causing a noticeable blood flow to the brush, to the capillaries on its surface. Then the skin is cooled by cool water circulating in the typewriter, and the cooled blood, in turn, leaves again deep into the body.

The experimental machine has already been used by some athletes in training before Athens. Experiments have shown that intensive muscle exertion can be doubled or tripled. Moreover, a good form of athletes is maintained even after the use of the device has ceased. Now the company AVAcore Technologies, created by the two scientists, is engaged in the commercialization of technology.

Among the possible applications are military equipment (special gloves for the desert, for example), which increases the endurance of soldiers. It is also curious that in its mirror version - with the heating of blood, and not by cooling it - the machine reduces the time by a factor of ten after the operation for which the person who has undergone anesthesia regains consciousness. As scientists have established, with anesthesia, the thermoregulation mechanism of the body fails, it is supercooled, which affects a person's condition after surgery.
