As shown by a study conducted by Japanese scientists, women who exercise too much and lean on food useful for the cardiovascular system risk to enter menopause earlier, according to an Internet publication for girls and women aged 14 to 35. Pannochka. Net There is no direct link between training and healthy eating on the one hand and the time to enter menopause, as many factors influence the time of its onset, but the researchers believe that the findings can be useful in the prevention of breast cancer (BC).

In the course of the study, scientists observed for 10 years 3100 women who were at the time of the beginning of the study in the period of premenopause. For those who exercised the most - from 8 to 10 hours per week - the probability of entering menopause during these 10 years was 17% higher than for women prone to sedentary lifestyles.

Similarly, in women who consumed the largest amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) contained in fish and vegetable oils, the probability of menopause for 10 years was 15% higher than that of women who consumed a minimum PUFA.

According to the North American Society for Menopause, this period in a woman's life usually occurs between the ages of 41 and 55.

In a study by Dr. Chisato Nagata and colleagues from the University of Gifu (Japan), women from 35 to 56 years. All of them were asked to fill in questionnaires, including questions on the topic of physical activity and nutrition. Over the next 10 years almost 1800 women entered the menopause.

And although the age of this event for each participant is not indicated, according to the information received, the more active women were engaged in sports and the more PUFAs they used, the earlier they started menopause.

Adhering to a diet low in fat and a lot of sports, women do not face a high level of estrogen, says Dr. JoAnn E. Manson, president of the North American Society for Menopause. A high level of estrogen promotes the development of breast tumors - this explains the relationship between the early onset of menopause and the low risk of breast cancer.

At the same time, the early onset of menopause is also associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and bone thinning.

But the benefits of active exercise and fish-vegetable diet, according to Dr. Manson, still far exceed the risks.

Data from previous studies produced contradictory results. So, excessive physical activity (which usually means 5 or more hours of exercise per week) contributed to the early onset of menopause, but on the other hand, too much exercise led to irregularities in the menstrual cycle, which in turn removed the time of entry into menopause.
