Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchuge set a new record in overcoming the marathon distance.

During the race in Italy, the 32-year-old Kenyan overcame the classic marathon distance of 42 km 195 meters in 2 hours 24 seconds.

In the competition, whose goal was to overcome the distance in less than two hours, also took part Zersenai Tadese from Eritrea and Lelisa Desisa from Ethiopia.

The record was set in the framework of the race organized by Nike on the track in the city of Monza.

The achievement, however, will not be counted, since the indicative race was not an official sports match.

The official world record thus remained the same - 2 hours 2 minutes and 57 seconds. This result belongs to Kenyan Dennis Kimetto at the Berlin Marathon in September 2014.

However, after the race, the Olympic champion Kipchoge said: "This is also a story". This is reported by the Air Force.
