As a result of the achievements of Ukrainian athletes in April, the Expert Committee of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) recognized Oleg Vernyaev and his trainer Gennady Sartinsky as the best athlete and coach of the month.

Verniaev won 3 awards at the European Championships in artistic gymnastics in Romania, two of which were gold.

Ukrainian gymnast defended his title of champion of the Old World in the all-around. He also became the best in the exercises on the uneven bars and won the "bronze" in the base jump.

Thus, Oleg won the NOC's recognition for the ninth time and caught up with the fencer Olga Harlan.

Note that the NOC also stressed the high achievements in April of Ukrainian athletes at the European Championships in Weightlifting and Judo.
