In Warsaw, the European judo championship took place, the winners of which suddenly became Ukrainians Georgy Zantaraya and Daria Beloded.

Zantaraya first two fights on the tatami held nervously and formalized the minimum wins. In the quarter finals the Ukrainian coped with Dmitry Mink from Belarus. In the semi-finals, the Ukrainian judoist easily defeated the Slovak Matei Polyak and got into the "golden" finale.

In the final fight, George met with Andrian Gomboch from Slovenia - the fight lasted 61 seconds, after which Zantaraya took "gold" thanks to the ippon. It should be noted that Zantarai was the last personal champion of Europe from Ukrainian judo in 2011.

16-year-old Daria Beloded sensationally took the gold medal in the women's part of the European Championship. It was only the second adult tournament for judo, which showed skill in defense and character, having managed to reach the final. In the decisive battle her rival was the Russian Irina Dolgova - the duel went into extra time, where Daria received a vaza-ari for the throw and won the final victory.

Recall, in early April, Ukrainian judoists won three medals at the Grand Prix in Tbilisi.
