US Senator Richard Blumenthal is going to send a letter to FIFA with an appeal to deprive Russia of the right to host the World Cup in 2018.
"I hope my letter on the deprivation of the right to host the World Cup will be supported by the best people from FIFA. But, if necessary, I am ready to take further steps to promote this idea.
The right to hold the World Cup is more than just a symbolic gesture. It's like a reward for Russia.
It allows Putin to be a big man on the world stage and supports his ego, "said Blumenthal.
Recall, the World Cup-2018 will be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15. The championship is scheduled for 12 stadiums in 11 cities of Russia.
This year also in Russia will host the Confederations Cup. Winners of each of the six continental championships will take part in the tournament: Russia, Germany, Australia, Portugal, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand and Cameroon.
